Senior Sustainability Consultant / Trainer

The ESG Institute is building a panel of freelance Senior Sustainability Consultants and Trainers, drawing on experienced professionals from around the world. Engagements run project by project, so you can contribute as a strategic advisor, a training facilitator, or both, depending on your background and availability.

Key responsibilities

Depending on the engagement, you may contribute to advisory work, corporate learning, programme development, thought leadership, or a combination of these areas.

Subject Matter Expertise

Provide expert consulting on sustainability and ESG matters in your area of focus, supporting the planning and delivery of client projects.

Strategic Input

Advise on sustainability strategies, frameworks, and policies, ensuring alignment with leading standards and best practices.

Collaborative Engagement

Partner with our internal teams and clients to assess and address ESG risks, opportunities, and performance improvements.

Training & Facilitation

Design and deliver sustainability and ESG training, from introductory webinars to advanced corporate workshops.

Knowledge Sharing

Contribute to learning materials and resources that strengthen our education programmes.

Thought Leadership

Represent The ESG Institute at conferences, events, and in publications, helping drive global conversations on ESG.

Qualifications

  • A proven track record as a consultant, trainer, or subject matter expert in ESG and/or sustainability.
  • In-depth knowledge of ESG frameworks and reporting standards, such as CSRD, ESRS, GRI, TCFD, or ISSB.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to turn complex concepts into actionable strategies or engaging training content.
  • A track record in thought leadership, client advisory, or professional development.
  • A collaborative, flexible, solution-oriented approach.

Additional details

Engagements are flexible and project-based. We match consultants and trainers to assignments based on subject-matter expertise, client requirements and availability.

Compensation Project-based, varying with the scope and duration of each engagement.
Location Remote, though some projects may involve in-person meetings.
Commitment Flexible. We only ask for your involvement on projects that match your expertise and availability.
